Founded by Emily Yang and Karen Yang (who are friends who share the same last name), Poppies was created to fill a gap in the events world by offering thoughtful, personalized planning without the high price tag. Understanding the lack of accessible support for meaningful celebrations, Emily and Karen set out to make the process feel enjoyable and exciting rather than overwhelming. From weddings to birthdays to corporate gatherings, Poppies brings each vision to life with care, creativity, and a focus on what matters most: you and your story.
Meet Emily
Co-Founder and Owner
Emily has a background in project management with a creative eye and exceptional attention to detail. She is passionate about creating planning experiences that are unique to each individual without the noise and expectations of others, believing every celebration should feel as personalized as it is meaningful. Her expertise is in managing timelines, logistics, and communications that allows her to bring visions to life. She is enthusiastic and cares for her clients and their experiences.
Outside of wedding and event planning, Emily enjoys traveling, doing home renovations, DIY projects, and acting.
Meet Karen
Co-Founder and Owner
Karen brings a combination of professional experience and personal warmth to every event she coordinates. Her approach is to ensure every event feels personal, intentional, and stress-free from the very first conversation to the final send-off. Whether she's managing a full event day or stepping in as your day-of coordinator, Karen's priority is that you feel heard, seen, and taken care of.
In her free time, Karen enjoys learning Spanish on Duolingo, spending time with her cat named Sterling, and trying new restaurants in Los Angeles.
